Christopher Nolan is starting to become known for re-teaming with the same actors — Christian Bale has not only been Nolan‘s Batman but also starred in The Prestige, and The Dark Knight Rises will probably be Nolan‘s fifth consecutive film with Michael Caine. Furthermore, Tom Hardy, who appeared in Nolan’s Oscar-nominated Inception, will appear in The Dark Knight Rises as Bane. So it’s not really a surprise that Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also appeared in Inception, is in talks to appear in The Dark Knight Rises. Hit “more” to read some speculation on what role Gordon-Levitt might appear in!
Way before the villain tandem of Catwoman and Bane was announced, Gordon-Levitt was rumored to be playing the role of The Riddler in the third Batman film. While three villains hasn’t always worked in superhero films (we all know how Spider-Man 3 turned out, don’t we?), there’s also a strong possibility that Gordon-Levitt could be playing the frequently-rumored role of Professor Hugo Strange. Of course, some have pointed out Gordon-Levitt‘s slight resemblance to the late Heath Ledger (personally, I don’t see it) and are jumping to the conclusion that Gordon-Levitt will be playing the Joker. I don’t see that happening, but anything’s possible — Gordon-Levitt could even just be a very small role as a hot dog vendor.
…I just hope that Nolan doesn’t try to make him into some kind of adult Robin. Ugh…
The Dark Knight Rises is set for a July 20, 2012 release, starring Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Michael Caine as Alfred, and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.
