Even if Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel ends us being a bad movie, we can at least point to the credits and say “at least the cast was impressive!” According to Deadline, the film will soon add Julia Ormond (My Week With Marilyn) as Lara, Superman’s Kryptonian mother opposite the (still rumored) Russell Crowe as Jor-El, his father. Of course, I’m not spoiling anything to tell you that Ormond‘s screen time is likely limited, as Kal-El’s Kryptonian parents send their son to earth to escape the destruction of their dying planet.
Ormond joins Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Kevin Costner (Pa Kent), Diane Lane (Ma Kent), Michael Shannon (General Zod), and Antje Traue (Faora), with likely more cast moves coming in the next few months. Man of Steel is set for a December 2012 release. David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) is writing the screenplay based on a story developed by Goyer and Christopher Nolan, who will also produce the film.
