Marvel has made a pretty smart marketing move especially with the lack of films coming out this weekend. They have decided to re-release The Avengers this weekend and they are pushing the Thanos and Shawarma aspects of it. If by now you don’t know what either of those two mean regarding the film, then I suggest you head to your local theater this weekend and check it out. If you have already seen the film, then I suggest you head to your local theater and check it out one last time before it hits DVD/Blu-Ray next month.
Marvel took to their Facebook page to make the announcement and as I said about they are really pushing the Thanos aspect especially since he really isn’t a part of the film. Here is the post and the verbiage from the Facebook page.
Marvel’s The Avengers is back in theaters for Labor Day Weekend!
Don’t forget to stay through the credits…
Now, since this message was posted multiple outlets have been speculating that there could be additional scenes after the credits that weren’t there on the first go around. I’m here to tell people, there is a good chance there will be nothing different between this release of the film to the original release and here’s why. A) There has been no reports of an additional scene being shot, besides the shawarma scene and B) Why would they add more stuff to it especially with the Blu-Ray set to hit in a few weeks with a ton of additional footage and deleted scenes. It just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to add another scene to the end of the credits.
However, I do want to suggest that there might be something attached to the film but it might be for another Marvel film. I wouldn’t be surprised if at the end of the film after the credits are over, there is a teaser trailer for Iron Man 3 after it. I mean this wouldn’t be the first time Marvel had tossed a teaser at the end of a film (i.e. Captain America film with the Avengers trailer). This could be a huge opportunity for Marvel to start getting the buzz out there for IM3 and we know there is footage available because I saw it during SDCC this year, which you can read about here.
If this does end up being the case and a IM3 teaser is shown, I think Marvel should have teased or advertised this because that alone would bring fans back to the theaters again. We will have to wait to see what the reports are from this weekend, so be sure to go out and check the highest grossing superhero film of all time, out again this Labor Day weekend.
