Now here’s a bit of casting that never even crossed my mind but is absolutely spot-on: according to the Los Angeles Times Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) has been cast as gruff, the authoritative Daily Planet editor Perry White in Man of Steel. Fishburne brings the required weight to the role, as I can easily see him chewing out Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) and Lois Lane (Amy Adams) for missing a scoop. All I know is I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end if Fishburne was yelling at me, although I could always just imagine him as the jolly Cowboy Curtis from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse to make me feel better.
Fishburne is yet another big name who is joining a star-studded cast, including Kevin Costner (Pa Kent), Diane Lane (Ma Kent), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora), and Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond as Superman’s Kryptonian parents. It will be by directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) for a June 14, 2013 release.
