Is it me or does Fast and Furious 7 seem like it is shaping up to be an even more badass of a film than its predecessors? First we have Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the surviving cast returning back to the states for Fast 7 after the sixth and third film’s storylines collided. Then we get the news that Jason Statham signed up for some car action fun as the main villain of the film and thirdly we find out that Tony Jaa will be making his Hollywood debut with James Wan’s upcoming sequel. All of that alone seems pretty fantastic but Universal isn’t done blowing your mind just yet as word has it that Kurt Russell is in talks for a role in the film as well.
Yes folk, that Kurt Russell, the same guy from The Thing, and Escape from New York is looking to star and the role is an important one as reports suggest it is the same role that was offered to Denzel Washington. Could it be a big boss villain type of role? No one knows but it would be sweet to see Russell tackle a great role in a blockbuster film, something we haven’t seen from him in years.
Fast and Furious 7 will be shooting at an accelerated rate this fall for a July 11, 2014 release. Keep an eye out here for more news on Fast 7 as I’m sure there will be at least one more announcement.
