It is still a ways away and I may not have ever played the game but I am oddly excited for one of Legendary Pictures’ 2016 tent pole films, Warcraft. The film is being directed by Moon and Source Code helmer Duncan Jones based on a script by Charles Leavitt which was re-written by Jones. The big news though this week is that Legendary has locked down its core cast and it has some solid talent and is quite the unexpected variety.
The film will star Lone Survivor, The Mechanic and The Messenger co-star Ben Foster in a leading role along with Vikings star Travis Fimmel, 2 Guns star Paula Patton, Toby Kebbel, Dominic Cooper and Rob Kazinsky. It’s a pretty young group of names being led by one of the most talented and underrated actors in Hollywood today, Ben Foster. It’s an interesting mix too and shows the youthful route Legendary is going, taking a page out of Marvel’s book with investing in non-superstars in hopes of turning them into franchise megastars.
The film is set to being production this January so I’m sure we’ll start to see some stills and footage come San Diego Comic Con next summer.
