If you ask any male that has seen the original Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, what was the one thing they remembered most about the film, I’m willing to bet 9 out of 10 would say it was the three-breasted woman. While attending the Total Recall panel at Comic Con, I really wanted to ask Len Wiseman if the woman would be making an appearance in the remake but the line was too long and the question probably wouldn’t pass the screeners.
Collider got the chance to interview Wiseman in private at Comic-Con and asked the million dollar question, “Will the three breasted woman e in the film? Wiseman’s answer, Yes! We will see everyone’s favorite mutant prostitute or at least someone along the lines of her. It’s been known that the remake would be looking for a PG-13 theatrical release so don’t expect to see too much of our female friend but Wiseman said that their will be different versions of her for the theatrical and for the unrated DVD release. Score!!!
When asked about his shooting of the film for rating purposes, Wiseman said the following:
I just shoot as I shoot. It’s not so much of “Now I’m going to do the rated-R cut”… [But] there’s specific things. There’s different versions of the three-breasted woman… [The new film] is its own take on [the story], but… you can’t make Total Recall without certain things.
It’s also nice to know that Wiseman is really taking into consideration the original film. He seems to has a passion for it and really cares about the homage he pays to it. When asked about other scenes or character returning from the original, Wiseman said,
After I read the script I wrote a list out of the things that I remembered from when I was 15 of Total Recall before I went and re-watched Total Recall again, just to see what actually stuck with me. And those were things I want to pay homage to.
Well if I wasn’t that excited for the remake, I am now. Also Wiseman advised that the film would be more serious and have a gritter and realistic tone to it. I actually welcome this approach very much. The original was awesome and for it’s time worked, I don’t think that it would work the same today, so I’m glad he’s taking a different approach to the remake.
