How many more chances is Hollywood going to give Lindsay Lohan? Is there a talent there even worth salvaging? Lifetime certainly thinks so since the troubled actress is currently in talks with the network to star in a television movie documenting the torrid love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and her most famous of husbands, Richard Burton. Lohan would portray Taylor and it is still unknown who would take on the male lead.
The original movie, Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, will be produced by Larry Thompson (Amish Grace) and is written by Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin).
According to Deadline, there are many similarities between Lohan and Taylor, including domineering stage mothers, an early rise to fame, alcohol and substance abuse problems, and a lot of media attention focusing on their personal lives. The website even speculates similarities in their looks, but I don’t really see it.
Lohan has continuously professed her adoration for screen legend, Marilyn Monroe, but now it seems her sights are set on the brunette bombshell of Old Hollywood. The last time Lohan was seen on the big screen was in Machete in 2010, but her latest project, InAPPropriate Comedy, with Rob Schneider and Michelle Rodriguez, is due out later this year.
Would you watch Lifetime’s depiction of the famous Taylor-Burton romance starring Lohan? Does anybody even care if she returns to acting? Who do you think would be better in the part?
