I have been continual impressed with the way Disney has been handling the marketing for their upcoming film, The Muppets. First they release a handful of spoof trailers along with with matching posters, then we were given legitimate trailers and posters, and now we have a new CD chock full of contemporary artists playing all of our favorite Muppets songs.
The CD, titled The Green Album, is obviously a play off of the Beatles’ White Album but instead of being just white, this album cover is Kermit’s picture made up of all the bands that appear on the album.
I listened to the album in its entirety and thought it was actually really good compilation by some talented artists. My favorite songs are Mahna Mahna by The Fray, Wishing Song by The Airborne Toxic Event and Night Life by Brandon Saller. Other artists featured include OK Go, Weezer and Alkaline Trio.
With the CD set to release next week, NPR was given access to the album and is now streaming it online for all to to listen to. Take a listen to the album and revere in the glory that is The Muppets. Details are below.
