In preparation for the anticipated theatrical release of Ong Bak 2, I thought I would tell you all about the great pack of select foreign films that are being staged for release. The great film pack includes movies like Bronson (UK), Ong Bak 2 (Thailand), Red Cliff (China), The Warlords (China), District 13: Ultimatum (France), and one surprise film that they have yet to release.
Bronson was already released in the states earlier this month, October 9th to be exact. I have already written a review about this movie so check it out here but for thos lazy asses who don’t want to read can check out the trailer below about Britain’s most violent prisoner. I thought this movie was pretty good and definitely worth a watch.
The next release is Ong Bak 2: The Beginning on October 23rd. The first was amazing and I am hoping this one has just as much ass kicking as the other even though there is absolutely no plot relation to it whatsoever. Check out the official synopsis and trailer below:
Martial arts superstar Tony Jaa stars in and directs this epic tale of revenge set hundreds of years in the past. Featuring a huge cast and hordes of elephants, this prequel takes Jaa’s skills to the next level, showcasing him as a master of a wide range of martial arts styles – while proving him to be a promising director as well.
Coming third is John Woo’s (Face/Off, The Killer) new flick, Red Cliff, starring
Tony Leung (Internal Affairs). I heard this movie was amazing and I will be writing a review about it as soon as I see it. The only thing that sucks about this is that American theaters will only be able to watch a combined installment of his two part film. This pisses me off but let’s be honest, most Americans aren’t going to watch two full installments of a foreign film which is unfortunate. Anyhow, I am psyched for this movie so check out the trailer and a synopsis below:
In the early third century, the land of Wu is invaded by the warlord Cao Cao and his million soldiers. The ruler of Wu, Sun Quan, calls on the rival warlord Liu Bei for help, but their two armies are still badly outnumbered. However, the Wu strategist Zhou Yu sees that Cao Cao’s army is unused to battling on the sea, which may just give them a chance if they can exploit this weakness properly.
Next up on this amazing list is another sequel to an amazing movie, District 13-Ultimatum. This French movie’s predecessor introduced to the world the martial art style parkour, a breath taking style that is sure to get you fired up. This French film will be released sometime in February. Read the synopsis and watch the trailer below:
Damien and Leito return to District 13 on a mission to bring peace to the troubled sector that is controlled by five different gang bosses, before the city’s secret services take drastic measures to solve the problem.
The 5th movie is called The Warlords starring Andy Lau (Internal Affairs, Legend of the Drunken Master) and Jet Li (The One, Unleashed) is another Chinese Epic with some big name stars. As a huge fan of Jet Li I have tried desperately to find this movie in China but my attempts failed and now I have to wait until March to see this great Chinese epic. Check out the synopsis and trailer below:
It’s a heroic tale of three blood brothers and their struggle in the midst of war and political upheaval. It is based on “The Assassination of Ma,” a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) story about the killing of General Ma Xinyi. .
The final film in the series has yet to be revealed publicly but I am hoping for something amazing. This list is very impressive so if they can bring a masterpiece to top it off I would go insane and do whatever it takes to see this film. Hopefully some of you get the opportunity to watch a few of these fantastic films over the next few months and get ready for pure awesomeness!
