Matt Reeves is best known for his work on Cloverfield and Let Me In, so the man knows a thing or two about science fiction and supernaturals.
Deadline has learned that Matt has signed a deal with Fox 2000 to direct the adaptation of the vampire novel by Justin Cronin, The Passage.
Here is a brief synopsis of the first of four books in the series:
“A group of terminally ill cancer patients get healthy after being subjected to the bites of bats in South America. Naturally, the government see this as a cure for the disease and starts experimenting. They end up with a legion of nearly indestructible, telepathic vampire masters that begin infecting the populace.”
When will the government learn that it is not OK to experiment on humans with viruses and animal bites?
Not only will Matt be directing the film but he will also be helping with the rewrites of the script that was originally done by John Logan.
Also earlier in the week Matt struck a deal with Universal to direct another story to film adaptation, 8 O’ Clock in the Morning, which is about a group of humans who realize they are being controlled by aliens.
No official word yet on which one of these films will be first up for Matt, but expect The Passage to be his next in line.
I’m glad Reeves is finding all this work but when is he going to make time for the Cloverfield sequel!!!!!!
