We are living in a golden age of entertainment right now but in this past year, at least for films, this has been the golden age of Matthew McConaughey. After a string of legitimately crappy rom-coms, McConaughey signed on for roles in The Lincoln Lawyer, Magic Mike, Killer Joe, and Mud which have utilized his talents particularly well, so much so that Christopher Nolan is looking his way for the lead in his next film, Interstellar.
McConaughey has been offered the role of Cooper, the male lead in the film, but hasn’t officially been signed yet but, let’s be serious, would he really turn it down? Originally written by Jonathan Nolan for Steven Spielberg, his brother Christopher stepped in when Spielberg had to bow out and now he is rewriting the script to bring new elements to the film.
Interstellar is based on the theories of gravitational physicist and astrophysicist Kip Thorne and is about “a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding,” so expect some mind-numbing content in this one.
Interstellar is set to be released on November 7, 2014
