Here’s a film that people likely keep forgetting about but will most certainly kill at the box office later this year, I’m obviously talking about the prequel to the popular Pixar film Monsters Inc., titled Monsters University. The film which features the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi, Jennifer Tilly, Kelsey Grammer, Frank Oz, Ken Jeong, John Ratzenberger and J.B. Smoove, takes us back to the days of when Mike and Sully were in college, formed a heated rivalry and eventually became friends.
The first full trailer for the film has been released and it once again shows off the amazing ability of Pixar animation while treating us to a slightly more intense yet potentially even more fun story than the original. All I hope is that this film lives up to the greatness that is Monsters Inc. because we could use a really fun animated flick in 2013 and this seems like it’s the only candidate at the moment.
Get ready Pixar lovers because Monsters University is on its way.
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).
Monsters University opens later this year on June 21st.
