When one says the name Mondo, people immediatly perk their ears up to listen. From a small company selling movie posters out of a closet at the Alamo Draft house in Austin to becoming one of the biggest names in the poster industry, Mondo has come a long ways over the past 15 years. Last year they opened a new gallery and have been putting on some amazing shows ever since. We have seen everything from Adventure Time and Universal Monsters to the most recent Game of Thrones gallery. However, none of these gallary event’s come close to the collaboration Mondo has in store for fans tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will see the gallery opening for two of the biggest names in the poster art community right now, Tyler Stout and Ken Taylor and, with that, fans can expect to be blown away with some amazing pieces of art. If you’re involved with the poster community at all you already know about the event and have probably purchased plane tickets to come to Austin. For others, better hurry because the line has already started as of 4am this morning.
While the show is still being kept under wraps, a few pieces from the event have been revealed by various sites and Mondo as well (see below). So what do we know exactly about the show? Well we know that both artist will be there Friday and are bringing new prints they have done from some of the licenses Mondo has acquired. We also know the highly speculated Stout’s Drive Print and Vinyl will be released tomorrow as well as Ken Taylor’s Beetlejuice. Furthermore, all of Ken’s work will be signed, while due to timing issues, Tyler will be signing prints on Saturday as oppose to Friday. You can find out more information regarding the signing at Mondo’s Blog. Other then that the rest is a mystery!
Rumors have been flying around the Internet as to what the two artist will bring and the amount of prints that will be available for purchase for weeks now. Well the gallery opens tomorrow at 7pm, however we will be getting an early look from inside the gallery tomorrow starting at 5pm. As long as we are permitted, we will be posting photos and info about the event in real-time, along with interviews from both Ken Taylor and Tyler Stout. Be sure to check back here tomorrow for all the coverage.
