It’s been a while since we’ve actually seen Anna Paquin excel on the big screen, and let’s face it, Scream 4 and The Romantics don’t count! The Oscar-winning actress and star of HBO’s True Blood has finally returned to her drama roots with Margaret, the story of “a young woman [who] witnesses a bus accident, and is caught up in the aftermath, where the question of whether or not it was intentional affects many people’s lives,” according to IMDB.
If you watched the trailer from Chris’ article earlier in the week, you would’ve seen a slew of familiar faces, including Oscar winner Matt Damon (Contagion) and last year’s nominee for The Kids Are All Right, Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers). Also to support the already impressive cast is Matthew Broderick (Tower Heist), Alison Janney (The Help), Keiran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World), Krysten Ritter (Gravity), Jean Reno (The Professional), Olivia Thirlby (No Strings Attached), and Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married).
Written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan (Gangs of New York, You Can Count On Me), Margaret was actually filmed six years ago. Take a look at movie poster, as well as some stills of the actors a mere six years ago, way before we ever associated the New Zealand-born Paquin with blond hair and vampires!
Also, check out Chris’s first article about the film for more behind long-winded making of this 149 minute drama due out in theaters September 30th!
