Except for the fact the Harrison Ford talks like Christian Bale in The Dark Knight, Morning Glory was an entertaining film that didn’t try and go above and beyond its obsessively quirky and humorous nature.
Pretty solid up until the end, Morning Glory tells the story of a workaholic producer named Becky (Rachel McAdams), who is hired to resurrect a dying national broadcast news channel. To do this she hires the grumpy and egotistical Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford), a legendary news anchor, to help revitalize the morning show. The film depicts the constant struggles Becky as she tries to bring up moral, get Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford, the two anchors, to work together, and lastly bring up the show’s ratings before it is too late.
If it wasn’t for McAdams and some really hysterical moments this movie would have been utter crap, but because of the fun nature of the film, Morning Glory manages to be rather enjoyable instead of annoying and frustrating. Hit the jump to check out my review of the news comedy that also stars Patrick Wilson and Jeff Goldblum.
Morning Glory is directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill) and hits theaters today, November 10th.
Oh and here’s a fun fact, I was interning in the news studio where they were filming this movie two summers ago.
