It’s a rare thing when a 14 year old girl can nearly outshine both Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon, together nonetheless. Well Hailee Steinfeld did just that in the Coen Brothers’ latest film, True Grit, an adaptation of a novel of the same name and a remake of the one film John Wayne won an Oscar for.
The film, which also stars Josh Brolin and Barry Pepper, follows Mattie Ross (Steinfeld) and a US Marshall Rooster Cogburn (Bridges) as they pursue a cold blooded killer named Tom Chaney and bring him to justice after the killing Mattie’s father. Together they must track him down before Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Damon) catches him and brings the man to Texas for a different crime he committed.
