Clint Eastwood may already be busy filming his J. Edgar Hoover biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio (as you can see from the set photo above — I love that Eastwood is rocking an FBI cap!), but it appears that the film on the former FBI head had a few more roles left to fill. Via both Variety and Deadline we’ve learned that Massachusetts native Jeffrey Donovan (TV’s Burn Notice) has been tapped to play Massachusetts native Robert F. Kennedy in the film (looks like he’ll have the accent down right!)
Donovan previously had a small role in Eastwood‘s excellent Changeling, so the former Dirty Harry must have liked what he saw in Donovan. In addition, newcomer Miles Fisher (Gods and Generals, Superhero Movie) will play Agent Garrison, who, according to deadline, is “an FBI man who interviews his boss, J. Edgar Hoover, at different stages in the movie.” That curiously sounds similar to the role of Agent Smith, the agent who is writing Hoover’s biography, who has already been announced to be played by Ed Westwick. Whether those characters will be related is a question we’ll have to wait until the film’s release to answer!
Eastwood‘s J. Edgar is set for a 2012 release with Leonardo DiCaprio as Hoover, Naomi Watts as Hoover’s secretary of fifty-four years Helen Gandy, Ed Westwick as Agent Smith, Armie Hammer as Hoover’s alleged lover Clyde Tolson, Josh Lucas as Charles Lindburgh, and Judi Dench in an unspecified role. The script was written by Dustin Lance Black (Milk).
