We already have Lily Collins (Abduction) as Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Prince Andrew Alcott, and Julia Roberts (Eat Pray Love) as the Evil Queen in Tarsem Singh’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. Now, Playbill has reported that Nathan Lane (The Producers) and Robert Emms (Steven Spielberg‘s War Horse) are joining the supporting cast.
Lane “will play Brighton, the Queen’s servant, in the movie that is currently in pre-production and is set for a June 29, 2012 release.” The Film Stage says that “Emms is said to have the part of Renbock, who is the valet to Hammer‘s Prince Alcott.”
The website also gives us a reminder of the storyline for this classic retelling with: “A spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale. An evil queen and an exiled princess struggle for control of their kingdom in a spirited adventure comedy, filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal, that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.”
I repeat, this is not to be confused with Snow White & the Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Sam Claflin, or Disney’s Chinese-inspired Snow & the Seven written by Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 writer, Michael Arndt, as per The Film Stage in another article.
Stick with Movie Buzzers for continuing coverage of any and all things Snow White, especially since there are three movies currently in the works!
