Many thought that with the departure of David O. Russell, the movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune might be heading toward development limbo. But fans of the series have no fear, Neil Burger has just been announced to bring the video game to the big screen.
Columbia Pictures announced today that Burger would take reign over the film, making him in charge of both the writing and directorial aspects. Burger’s directorial resume consists of, Interview with the Assassin, The Illusionist, The Lucky Ones and, most recently, Limitless with Bradley Cooper.
Mark Wahlberg was announced to play the lead role in the film a while back, but there has been no confirmation if he is still attached. Many fans of the game felt that Mark would be a terrible person to play the role of Drake and I have to agree with them. I, along with many others, feel that Nathan Fillion would make a perfect Drake for the film, so lets hope the studio feels the same.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, is based on the hit video game franchise, Uncharted, developed by Naughty Dog and distributed by Sony Computer Entertainment.
