There is no movie I’ve been looking forward to in 2014 more than Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a textbook example of how to reboot a long-dormant movie franchise and was arguably one of the best blockbuster movies of that year. Because of that, I know I’m not the only one who has huge expectations for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
20th Century Fox has finally released a more narrative trailer, which is not only awesome but reveals some of the storyline. It seems that the remaining humans blame the apes for the virus that has decimated humanity, but as we all know it was humans who created the virus. However, it appears that Dreyfus (played by Gary Oldman) doesn’t see it that way. All I know is that I’m ready to see a full-scale humans vs. apes battle… and I’m not sure that I’ll be rooting for the humans.
Along with Oldman and series star Andy Serkis (will this be the movie that finally gets him awards recognition?), the movie stars Jason Clarke, Judy Greer, Keri Russell and Kodi-Smit McPhee. The movie was directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In) and written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes) with rewrites by Mark Bomback (who did some uncredited rewriting on Rise of the Planet of the Apes).
