It’s been nearly a year since Movie Buzzers reported that Slash, the former guitarist of Guns N Roses (and, as South Park has proven, is everywhere these days), has started his own film company along with producers Michael Williams and Rob Eric, Slasher Films. Back then the first announced project was Nothing to Fear, a horror film about a family who moves to Kansas only to find a demon in their new home waiting to torture them, written by Jonathan W.C. Mills (who has written several screenplays, none which have been produced yet).
Today Deadline finally added some new news on the project. Newcomer Anthony Leonardi (who has worked as a designer for various films) will direct the film. So just in case you’re worrying about this project having more rookies involved than a minor league baseball team Deadline has also announced that Thomas Haden Church (Sideways) is in talks for the lead.
In addition the synopsis seems to have changed a bit as Deadline claims “The pic focuses on a family’s journey toward a better life, and how it is undone by a charismatic but unbalanced man of the cloth (Church). It’s based on an actual town purported to be one of the seven gateways to hell.” This still gels with the previous description as long as you think of Church as the demon, I guess.
Nothing to Fear will start shooting in October in Louisiana for a likely 2012 release. Seems like the Slasher Films team needs to get moving and put the rest of the cast together quickly!
