While at NYCC I had the chance to participate in some roundtable interviews with the directors and star of WWE Studios’ See No Evil 2, Jen and Sylvia Soska, aka the Soska Sisters, and WWE superstar Kane aka Glenn Jacobs. Below you’ll find the questions that I asked the talent involved as well as a little summary of some of the other questions that were asked.
Firstly, I just want to say that the Soska Sisters are really nice, exciting and fun to be around. They came in and gave everyone a hug before we started showering them with questions. I want to thank them for being so awesome.
For The Soska Sisters, See No Evil 2 is a huge jump for them in terms of scale and budget and they were excited to tackle the film, especially since it was based on a twisted script that they didn’t even write, which they normally do. They had seen the first film and thought there were a lot of missed opportunities and they want to make up for that with this film. They dubbed the film an art house slasher which means that it’s going to be beautiful and well crafted while ensuring we will get the blood we came to see. The pointed out that everyone is fair game to kill in the movie and the more you like a character, though you’ll like them all, the more likely they are to die. They claim to be the poeple
Movie Buzzers: Will you be appearing in the film as well since you tend to act in your films?
Jen Soska: We are slaves to what people want. We retired from acting after American Mary and then people said your expletive idiots for doing that. We love you guys, we want you to do more stuff like Hitchcock but I just never want to jump the shark and be an uninvited guest in my own film. Like everybody stop the movie, it’s the directors cameo, calm down. I think maybe we got done up to do something. I would never disappoint what our fans wanted so that is a strong maybe.
Sylvia Soska: Your maybe sounded like a yes.
Did it?
[laughs]
Later in the day we had the chance to speak with Glenn Jacobs, known in most parts of the world as WWE legend Kane. During his interview session we learned how Jacob’s character differs from the original in that this is more a slasher without a cause rather than having to deal with the back story of his mother who scarred him when growing up. He also discusses that he would like to act more if the opportunity presents itself and how it can be a lot more challenging to act since there is no instant gratification like you get in wrestling which is all one take and with a live audience.
Movie Buzzers: Why did you decide to return to the role of Jacob after initially being killed off?
Glenn Jacobs: I really wanted to have the opportunity to work with the Soksa Sisters actually because I’m a huge fan of theirs and I saw some of their stuff going into the movie and I think that they are going to be enormous stars. I told them not to forget about me when they’re Hollywood big shots because I think they are going to be someday. They know the art of filmmaking. I actually learned a lot from them and I wanted to try it again because it is fun, acting’s fun, and some of the people I was able to meet [from] the cast and the crew, our crew is very experienced. We shot in Vancouver which is becoming Hollywood north, they shoot a lot of stuff up there. The crew was great, the cast was great, they’re all experienced good actors.
