As much as I love 80s style action flicks and Bruce Willis, I’m not sure I’m all that game for a fifth Die Hard movie. After all, the three previous sequels really haven’t come close to the utter brilliance of the 1988 original, which remains one of the best action movies of all time.
But come Valentine’s Day we’ll have a fifth entry in the saga of John McClane, the New York cop who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Titled A Good Day to Die Hard, this sequel sees McClane teaming with his son John Jr. (called “Jack” in the previous films), portrayed by Jai Courtney (TV’s Spartacus: Vengeance). Though the plot details haven’t been released yet, it’s known that the film takes place in Russia after the elder McClane learns his son has gotten into trouble there. Below is the first photo of the duo in action from Entertainment Weekly.
Done right, this could have an Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vibe. With that in mind, the film was written by Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team) and directed by John Moore (Max Payne, Behind Enemy Lines), so both of them will certainly have to up their games in order to give us a worthy entry into the Die Hard series.
