Yesterday, production began on Marvel and Peyton Reed’s highly anticipated (sort of) new super hero film, Ant-Man. The film stars Paul Rudd in the lead as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym as well as Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Judy Greer and T.I. among others. With production underway, Marvel and Disney decided to give us our first look at Paul Rudd in character and, well, it’s Paul Rudd in a hoodie looking like he’s making a tough decision in San Francisco. Will he throw the bag after getting a beating, will he not? What’s in the bag? I have no clue but you can decide for yourself by staring at Rudd below.
In the comics, Ant-Man was one of the original founders of The Avengers and has the ability to shrink thanks to the Ant-Man suit, but in typical Marvel cinematic style, they’re shaking things up with this story and its place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
