Here’s another reason why I love Peter Dinklage. The guy has just signed on to play a freakin’ leprechaun in an upcoming untitled R-rated leprechaun comedy, a film that’s described as Bad Santa but Santa has been replaced with a guy pretending to be a leprechaun.
Talk about a perfect choice, the guy is so serious all the time and can easily pull out quick witted humor just as fast as he can give you a stone cold stare. If you’ve seen Elf you know what he can be like angry and if you’ve seen Game of Thrones you know he can also be a funny sexual deviant.
The film is being scripted Andrew Dodge, who also penned Jason Bateman’s directorial debut Bad Words, which was compared to Bad Santa by nearly every critic. According to THR, who got the scoop, the film is certainly going to be a hard R but naturally have an emotional core or wrapping, who knows. In the film Dinklage’s character goes around telling people that he is a real life leprechaun so that should lead to some pretty hilarious moments.
There is currently no director or other stars attached but we do know that Paramount will be releasing the film but we probably won’t see it until 2015 unless they manage to round out the rest of the cast and snag a director before December.
