Although we’ll first see Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first post-governor, post-scandal role in The Expendables 2, Schwarzenegger‘s first starring project since 2003, Last Stand, is moving forward. Variety announced that Peter Stormare has been picked as the main villain’s right-hand enforcer. Stormare is probably best known for playing the creepy killer in Fargo, and if he brings any of that energy to the film he’ll make a fantastic foil for Arnold’s Sheriff Ray Owens, who has retired from the LAPD to a life as the sheriff of a small town on the U.S.-Mexican border. The normally peaceful hamlet is besieged when a notorious drug kingpin takes on Schwarzenegger and his officers.
Last Stand is set for a 2013 release and will be directed by Kim Jee-Woon (A Tale of Two Sisters, The Good, The Bad, and the Weird) from a script by Andrew Knauer that was rewritten by Jeffrey Nachmanoff.
