I loved Piranha 3D. It was absolutely the ridiculous schlockfest that 3D movies ought to be, never taking itself seriously at all. So of course the brilliantly named Piranha 3DD was already on my must-see list, but the teaser trailer that debut during last night’s Spike TV awards pushed it up even higher.
Not only do we see the return of Ving Rhames with his new shotgun legs and the return of Christopher Lloyd, but we get to also see David Hasselhoff make an appearance as himself. It’s also pretty genius to set the movie in a water park.
Oh, and did I forget to mention that the teaser doesn’t forget to include the DDs? You know what I mean…
Piranha 3DD is directed by John Gulager from a script by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dustan (the team behind Feast). Along with Rhames and Lloyd, Paul Scheer is returning to the cast, joined by Katrina Bowden (TV’s 30 Rock), Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th), Gary Busey, Matt Bush (Adventureland), Chris Zylka (The Amazing Spider-Man), David Koechner (Anchorman), and Meagan Tandy (Unstoppable). It is set for a 2012 release, recently pushed back from a release this November.
Right now we only have a low-quality vidcap from last night’s awards, but we’ll update this if a better quality trailer makes its way online. Anyway, check it out below!
