Fans of the hit comedy Pitch Perfect may get a little excited by the news coming out of Hollywood that the film has found itself a new director, and it is none other than the film’s first producer and star, Elizabeth Banks.
Banks will be making her debut in the big chair as she returns for the sequel to the 2012 sleeper comedy, cleverly entitled Pitch Perfect 2. This is great news for Banks who will hopefully be added to the list of talented female directors in Hollywood, a list which is sadly quite short at the moment.
Pitch Perfect 2 will also likely to see the return of Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson as well as other favourites from the first outing as the sequel continues very much in the same vein of its predecessor. Screenwriter Kay Cannon will be back to pen Pitch Perfect 2, which is another good sign that the film could be just as successful, if not more so, than the first. It’s a good move by the studio, as modern day sequels seem hell bent on throwing out everyone who made the first successful.
No word yet when the film will be released, but Banks seems awfully excited by the news as she tweeted “Acabelieve it”, this past Monday.
