Many aspects of Woody Allen’s next project still remain hush-hush, but now we’re finding out that the plot for his latest untitled film will reflect the current financial climate faced by many Americans. As usual, the all-star cast is sure to impress, especially with the unique mix of Cate Blanchett (The Hobbit: An Unexepcted Journey), Sally Hawkins (Jane Eyre), comedian Louis C.K., Alec Baldwin (To Rome with Love), Peter Sarsgaard (Lovelace), Michael Emerson (TV’s Person of Interest), Andrew Dice Clay (Entourage), and Bobby Cannavale (Movie 43).
Back in June, Movie Buzzers revealed this eclectic cast in Chris’ article, but now we’ve learned, according to Collider, the movie follows “a wealthy woman who finds herself broke and in San Francisco, living with her sister and downsizing her life. She eventually meets a man in the Bay Area who could solve her financial problems, but she first needs to discover who she is and, more importantly, accept San Francisco as her home.”
It’s rumored that Hawkins will be playing the down-on-her-luck lead and Blanchett is the more successful sister, which leads to a great deal of anticipation to see these decorated actresses banter with Allen’s trademark dialogue. The film’s IMDB page is pretty vague, not mentioning any names of characters, so we’ve yet to confirm who is playing the male lead and how the other male actors play into the storyline.
What do you think of Allen’s collection of talent here? Are you excited to see a stateside-based Allen film on the big screen?
