Lately there have been a lot cool posters being released, along with some lame ones, for both films in development or for those about to be released in theaters. I have decided to compile some of the cooler posters I have seen from around the world in case you haven’t seen them yet. After the jump you will find a synopsis along with the poster for films such as The Divide, Red state, Midnight Beating, Outside the Law, and Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night (this movie does exist but only in Japan). Hit the jump to check ’em out.
First up is Kevin Smith’s debut horror film, Red state, starring John goodman. The film is about “a group of misfits [that] encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America.”
Up next is Xavier Gens apocolyptic film, The Divide, which “is about eight strangers who take refuge in a makeshift fallout shelter in the basement of their apartment after a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York City”.
Third is Outside the Law (Hors-la-loi), an Frenc-Algerian movie which I thought was fantastic and is hitting theaters this weekend. Outside the Law tells “the story of three brothers who fight for Algeria’s independence from France after World War II. After losing their family home in Algeria, three brothers are scattered across the globe. Messaoud joins the French army fighting in Indochina; Abdelkader becomes a leader of the Algerian independence movement; Said moves to Paris to make his fortune in the shady clubs and boxing halls of Pigalle. Gradually, their interconnecting destinies reunite them in the French capital, where freedom is a battle to be fought and won.”
Fourth up is the Japanese sequel to Paranormal Activity which has been appropriately titled Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night. “The project is a direct continuation of the events of Oren Peli and Jason Blum’s original and takes place in Japan as a girl who visited San Diego as an exchange student unwittinglybring the evil that haunted Katie Fetherston into her family’s house. The film chronicles the young woman’s videotape recordings in their house and the shocking realization of the supernatural force that her family must defeat.”
Lastly is Midnight Beating, a creepy HK thriller starring Simon Yam. No information has been released to the public as of yet. The only thing we know is that it takes place in a hospital and that you can watch a relatively silent trailer here. I just think the poster is freakin’ awesome! It’s grungy and makes a pretty bold statement.
