In case you haven’t heard or seen, Gareth Edwards‘ upcoming Godzilla re-imagining has a new poster AND trailer which finally reveals the true magnificent size of the monster who’ll be hitting the cinemas hard in May, 2014. It certainly gives off the impression that Edwards was looking for as a terrifying force of nature.
Until recently not much has been known about the reboot, other than it was going to be much, much darker than the last 1998 outing starring Matthew Broderick. With an all-star cast including Bryan Cranston and Aaron-Taylor Johnson, the new poster and trailer (below) really hit home just how dangerous and destructive Godzilla (who’s name really looks quite fitting now) really is.
You can expect the inevitable ‘Breaking Bad‘ jokes regarding Cranston taking on the titan, which also happened during the beginning of Breaking Bad in regards to ‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Jokes, but fully expect Cranston to shine brightly in this film as he looks to take the main stage on the big screen. Supported by a wonderful cast, Godzilla looks set to be one of those rare films to break the mold when it comes to remakes/re-imaginings.
And while we get a glimpse at the titled beast, we’re lead to believe that Godzilla won’t be the only giant monster gracing the screen, but Edwards seems to be keeping that one as a special surprise for the film, perhaps an epic monster vs monster battle as the powerless humans watch on?
Godzilla will be ripping his way through the streets of San Francisco (a refreshing change from New York) come the summer.
