On November 21st, OpenRoad will be releasing the former MGM title Red Dawn, a remake of the 1980’s cult classic. After going bankrupt, MGM was forced to shelve the title and eventually sell it off, along with a few other titles, so that it could rebuild itself and return to its former glory. As a result, the film, which was set for a 2010 release and supposed to be Chris Hemsworth’s coming out party, got delayed further because the studio decided to digitally change the villains from being Chinese to North Koreans, thus making fans wait even longer.
Now there are no more delays and there shall be no more waiting to finally see what the film looks like. The first official poster and trailer for the film havefinally been released via Yahoo! and though the poster is nothing special, the trailer is action packed and gives you a good idea of what the film experience will be like. Chris (his review) and I (my review) both saw the film back in May at a test screening and really enjoyed it, which surprised both of us. If you’re looking for just good ol’ fashioned fun then Red Dawn is going to be perfect for you. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
Red Dawn stars Chris Hemsworth, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Josh Peck, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise, Will Yun Lee and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It was directed by Dan Bradley and written by Carl Ellsworth and Jeremy Passmore.
In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
