The road to Tom Yum Goong 2 (aka The Protector 2) has been a long one and it isn’t even close to being over yet. With Tony Jaa deciding to get married eight weeks into production and the film being only 40% complete, we’re not likely to see Prachya Pinkaew’s final product until mid 2013. What sucks even more is that there was the possibility that re-shoots might be needed because nobody was satisfied with what they had thus far. While that isn’t confirmed, I’m bummed that we’re not going to be able to see the young martial artist Jeeja Yanin, star of Chocolate and The Kick, fight alongside Jaa for at least a year.
Despite all of this, at least the 3D martial arts film is being made and we’ll have a new Jaa movie to drool over at some point. In the meantime, the studio has finally released something to wet our appetites in the form of promotional art. I know, I know, it’s not as cool as seeing footage and it isn’t a crazy piece of art but at least its something to prove that the film sort-of exists. Take a look below and be happy that Jaa is at least doing something.
Thansk to Asian movie pulse for the heads up.
