Way back when Fantastic Fest 2011 was in full gear, a little film called The FP popped up out of nowhere. Having no idea what it was about I proceeded to take a look at the trailer and a few stills while those who were able to attend the festival got to take in the full length feature of what I’d like to call a comedic and insane piece of dystopian cinema.
You thought breakdance fighting was cool, wait until you see a bunch of white boys and Asians going straight G in a Dance Dance Revolution-style tournament to the death. That’s exactly what you’re getting in this hard R gaming/sports film.
Drafthouse Films has released a full length red band trailer for your viewing pleasure. Keep in mind that this trailer has language not suitable for children unless they’re looking to pick up some ridiculous phrases to call their enemies at school (but seriously, keep them away).
In a dystopian future, a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park (‘The FP’) in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game “Beat-Beat Revelation.” After hometown hero BTRO is slain on the dance platform by thug leader L Dubba E, his protégé younger brother JTRO (Jason Trost) goes into isolation, vowing never to duel again. One year later, The FP is in ruins, and JTRO must find the courage to return and restore order in a ruthless battle for revenge that can only leave one man dancing. From the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and featuring narration by James Remar (THE WARRIORS), THE FP is a fury of fierce footwork, triumphant montages and neon street wear that Moviefone calls “a rare ready-made cult hit.”
