Two days ago we reported about a teaser trailer that Sony had just released for Resident Evil: Retribution and that it was leading up to a full trailer release. Well the time has come and Sony has done just that and released a full trailer for the fifth film in the Resident Evil franchise.
In case you haven’t been following along with the franchise or you are just as confused with the story lines as everyone else, here is the synopsis for Retribution, because the trailer will leave you scratching your head.
The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
Having seen the prior four films, I will say this one looks to have the best potential thus far. Of course they are using the cheap 3D shots which they did with the last film however, Retribution actually seems like they have a solid plot this time and we might actually start seeing a light at the end of the Resident Evil tunnel.
While most people have complained that the films are so far off from the story lines in the game, they still seem to attract a crowd with grossing over $700 million thus far in the franchise.
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters September 14th in 2D and 3D.
