I seem to write something about the upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel every week, so I feel like I know everything about this film (especially since there’s barely been any information released about it!)
Comic Book Movie has revealed that 20th Century Fox has officially changed the title for the film, which perhaps suggests why there hasn’t been a poster or trailer yet. Originally titled Caesar after the head ape, the film will now be known as Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Obviously this gives the audience some more brand recognition, as unsuspecting customers could wander into a film titled Caesar and think it’s about ancient Rome or Rise of the Apes and think it’s about Jane Goodall. Well, probably not actually. In all seriousiness, it does fit in with the naming convention of the original five films, which all had “Planet of the Apes” somewhere in their titles.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, Brian Cox, and John Lithgow, and is directed by Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist). The script is by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (The Relic) with rewrites by Jamie Moss (X-Men: First Class).
