If you’re salivating over all the details surrounding the latest and long-awaited addition to the Scream series, brace yourself for Scream 4’s movie poster, official trailer, a documentary on the whole series, and rumors about re-launching the franchise! Featured on the left is the famous Ghostface mask with the tagline: “New Decade. New Rules.” Hit the jump for more details on these “New Rules!”
Since March, producer Anthony Masi and horror journalist Ryan Turek “have amassed dozens of interviews with cast and crew from the series,” according to Examiner.com. Also, the documentary is expected to “include rare archival footage, never-before-seen photos, [and] new on-set stories,” all of which reveal the masterful ingredients that made the franchise such a success.
Masi is currently adding the finishing touches to his Hellraiser documentary. For those of you who aren’t familiar with his work, he has a killer resume of other horror flick documentaries such as Psycho, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Sleepaway Camp. Turek, who wrote the Hellraiser feature, is an editor at ShockTillYouDrop.com. Also, Scream 4 director Wes Craven recently tweeted a picture of original Scream killer Matthew Lillard during an interview for the documentary, which really had the rumor mill circulating with speculation over Stu’s return in the fourth movie.
Amid all the gossip and rumors behind the split of Scream stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette, the mainstream media is glossing over all the hype about the fourth installment’s release on April 15, 2011, which also coincides nicely with the release of the documentary.
At last month’s Scream Awards, a teaser trailer showed off the veteran survivors of the series like Neve Campbell is Sidney Prescott, Cox as Gale Weathers, and Arquette as Sheriff Dewey Riley (who is no longer just a deputy). This included a series of character shots and the infamously creepy ring of a telephone, with the altered voice of the film’s killer(s) asking, “What’s your favorite scary movie?”
To address any rumor about the franchise continuing after Scream 4, Arquette revealed his thoughts to ShockTillYouDrop.com in a recent interview. The actor explains that the ending of the film is left open for more to happen. Also, he says that he would love to play his character again and “loved working with Wes and the whole family.”
