With the San Diego Comic Con just 2 weeks away, Alex and I are getting bombarded with emails for panel interviews and press coverage for the s being presented at the con this year. As we get these, we will try and post them and give people the chance to voice their opinion on what they would like us to try and cover.
One film that has sparked my interest is an independent film called Knights of Badassdom, which stars Ryan Kwanten (HBO’s “True Blood”), Peter Dinklage (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Summer Glau (“Firefly,” “Serenity,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”), Danny Pudi (NBC’s “Community”), Margarita Levieva (The Lincoln Lawyer), and director Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2).
Here is a brief description of the film:
In this humorous fantasy adventure from IndieVest Pictures, Joe (Kwanten) is a heavy metal rocker who’s just gone through a painful breakup with his girlfriend, Beth (Levieva). His concerned roommates (Steve Zahn, Dinklage) kidnap him to their LARP (Live Action Role Playing) gathering, where he enters a realm of fantasy escapism in which pretend knights, elves, and barbarians clash with foam weaponry on a mock battlefield. When Joe’s “sorcerer” roommate (Zahn) inadvertently summons a deadly succubus that takes Beth’s seductive form, bloody reality crashes down upon their fantasy world. Once LARPers start to turn up dead, the make-believe wizards and warriors must become the real life heroes they have been pretending to be in order to conquer the evil that has been unleashed.
Everyone mentioned above will be in attendance in Hall H this year to conduct a Q&A and present a special trailer of the film. I am a huge fan of Firefly and missed my opportunity to interview Summer at the Dallas International Film Festival this year, so hopefully I get a chance this time. Also I have mentioned that Peter Dinklage, hands down, made Game of Thrones so I’m excited to see him in this film, even if it does sound a bit cheesy.
