Robert Rodriguez has an entire panel practically to himself and released some details on many of his upcoming projects.
The first was the confirmation of two Machete sequels titled “Machete Kills” and then the third is called “Machete Kills Again in Space.” You will see a trailer for the latter before Machete Kills when it’s released. It will be a space opera about a mexican killing in space. It will also feature hot space babes.
As for Sin City 2, Frank Miller has written a script and they are currently working on it. It will most likely be called “A Dame to Kill For” and could be shot by the end of this year. He most likely will shoot it in 3D since he said he has plans to use it like no one has before.
After he talked about the launch of his new vertically integrated studio called Quickdraw Studios. The first project is going to be based on the popular Heavy Metal Magazines. He plans on bringing it back to the screen after Fincher decided not to work on it. It may be anthology based like Sin City, basically it might have three stories with a wrap around story.
He is holding a contest for the film so that the fans can get involved. You can submit your story ideas to www.amd.com/heavymetal and also find the exact instructions there.
For Spy Kids 4 it was rumored that there would be smellovision but Rodriguez is calling it Spy Kids 4D with Aromascope technology. Basically you have a scratch and sniff card and when a number pops up on screen that’s when you scratch and smell it.
Lastly, Rodriguez has partnered with Frank Frazetta’s son, the guy who designed Conan and other famous characters, to bring all of his master works to a new museum being built in Austin. Their first project will be a Fire and Ice remake followed by Death Dealer and more.
I’m not going to talk about the investor sales pitch Rodriguez was pitching to the audience. IT was really annoying and made the panel suck a bit.
