I’ve already expressed my desire to watch David Ellis Shark Night 3D enough for you all to get the picture at this point. There is no reason for me to ramble anymore unless it has to do with…the new trailer that was just released!
Relativity has finally given us our first video look at the angry animated sharks, and they don’t look half bad. I mean, I’d still love to see sharks along the lines of Deep Blue Sea, but maybe it’s because I used to watch that on repeat as a youngster. The trailer looks fun, campy, and actually a little bit different than I imagined. The shark(s) are actually in a salt water lake and so it makes it a much more interesting setting than, say, anywhere along an ocean (or in it). I think this film is going more for the Lake Placid style with the added little twist that some person(s) might actually be responsible for placing the sharks in the lake.
Watch the trailer, which is pretty good, and then tell me the major problem that you spot (I’ll put the answer below the trailer).
The major problem is that Ellis decides to go with a massive horror cliché and appears to kill the black guy off immediately, or at least he is the first one to be attacked. Why in the trailer would you be that obvious?! Why? He was already the one character I liked before that even happened and now I learned by lesson, don’t get attached to characters in the trailer. Damn you Ellis, damn you!
Shark Night 3D stars Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack, Joel David Moore, Katharine McPhee, Sinqua Walls, Donal F. Logue, Joshua Leonard, Alyssa Diaz and Chris Zylka. It’ll be chomping its way into theaters on September 2nd.
