It should only be so fitting that on that day we post a new review of Ben Wheatley’s film Kill List, a new trailer for his upcoming dark comedy Sightseers would be released. I haven’t heard much about the film but reviews around the web, thanks to the film hitting a few festivals, have been very positive, saying that this is one of the best British comedies to be released in a long time.
Executive produced by fan favorite Edgar Wright, the trailer for Sightseers starts off as your run-of-the-mill travel dramedy and quickly descends into a darker and funnier picture when the leading couple encounters an annoying local in the English countryside. If the trailer is a real indication of what the film will be like then I will add this to my list of must-see movies for this winter.
Check out the trailer below and be sure the share it around if you enjoy it, this looks like it’s going to be a fun one.
Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through this sceptred isle in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life.
But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…
Sightseers is set to be released on November 30th in the UK. IFC has the US rights to the title but have not annoucned a release date yet, though I would be surprised if they held it off to 2013.
