How often can an actor say that they’re getting the privilege of working with someone that inspires their work? Well it seems at least one of them can, as Simon Pegg has been announced for Terry Jones’ ‘Absolutely Anything’, and he’ll be joined by the rest of tThe Pythons too (minus Eric Idle). “Meeting your idols is one thing – working with them is something else”. It’s nice to know even the stars can be a little star-struck these days, but it’s hardly surprising given the history of the Pythons and their contribution to comedy over the years. Pegg, who is of course a leading star in comedy himself through his work with Edgar Wright on their ‘Cornetto trilogy’ is said to be pretty chuffed to be working with the Pythons on the part live-action, part CGI sci-fi comedy.
He will star as Neil, a teacher who is gifted with powers following a meeting from visiting aliens (played by the Monty Pythons). Terry Jones will appear in the movie as well as directing and as an extra little treat, just incase you can handle just that little bit more, Robin Williams will be the voice of Neil’s dog (presumably post-alien meeting).
Filming will begin in the Spring following the Monty Python one-off reunion stage show at the O2 in London.
