While the medical community focuses on finding a cure for autism, super mom Chrys Worley has taken matters into her own hands. Early in his life, Worley’s autistic son Sasha showed interest in skateboarding. This sparked the idea in her mind that the sport could serve as a physical and emotional outlet for all autistic children. The organization known as A. Skate is now associated with big name brands such as Pepsi, Vans, and ESPN. A. Skate allows children with autism to be a part of our social world through skateboarding. They offer clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families and offer grants to children with autism for skateboard gear, while promoting awareness and education about autism and skateboarding to the families. Worley’s triumph has now been made into a documentary that has been premiering all over the country.
The indie film entitled Heart Child was directed by Ben Duffy and was funded through Kickstarter.
We recommend everybody check out the documentary and the organization!
