It amazes me how difficult it can be to follow the production of foreign films sometimes. Until you actually read the information on an English language website, it’s almost near impossible to know that the film is already done, has released a few images and that it is well on its way to the theaters. This truly bothers me when one of my favorite actors, Jet Li, is involved in such a film.
The Sorcerer & the White Snake is Jet Li’s latest Hong Kong production and stars the lovely Eva Huang alongside him in a fantasy action movie that looks to be quite grand. Below I have provided a brief synopsis of the film and the latest posters to go along with the title. After reading it though, I’m upset that Jet Li is evil, I want to cheer him on dammit! Looks like I’ll have to re-watch Unleashed.
Eva Huang (Kung Fu Hustle) stars as the White Snake of the title, who transforms into a beautiful woman to rescue and live with the man she falls in love with – an herbal physician played by Raymond Lam. When their town is plagued by a mysterious disease, she sacrifices her supernatural power and energy to help him save people but is found out to be a serpent when the Sorcerer played by Jet Li arrives. Charlene Choi of The Twins Effect series also stars as Green Snake who helps the white one.
What do you think of the posters? Are they as fantasy oriented as they’d like them to be or are the more reminiscent of The Day After Tomorrow?
