Though To Rome with Love was not the follow-up to Midnight in Paris that most Woody Allen fans wanted or hoped for, his latest film, Blue Jasmine, is nearly as big of a hit as Midnight in Paris — it is currently his fifth highest-grossing film, which is particularly impressive for a man who has directed forty-three. So fans of his work are hoping his forty-fourth film will be another high mark.
Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the title and release date of Allen’s next film, a few hints about the plot, and two photos. It will be titled Magic in the Moonlight, and is a period piece set in the south of France in the 1920s and 1930s (shades of Midnight in Paris, huh?). It stars Colin Firth, Emma Stone, Eileen Atkins, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney, and Jacki Weaver. It will be released on July 26, 2014.
