I know I didn’t post anything on Friday about all the Superhero news going around, but never fear I have crammed it all into this article. Anything and everything you wanted to know about the superhero films will be below.
First up, some Thor news! Thor doesn’t open until Friday in the states, however, it has opened overseas and is estimated to have made around $93 million in only ten days. Not bad for the first “fantasy” superhero film from Marvel. Also, Idris Elba who plays Heimdall in the upcoming film has has expressed interest and thrown his name into the ring to potentially play Luke Cage. Earlier last week. we learned that Isaiah Mustafa also has expressed interest in playing Cage as well. No word on if and when the character will be cast, much less when the film will be made, so stay tuned.
Collider interviewed Kevin Feige about the future of Marvel (which is very interesting) and his insight on Thor and what audience members should keep an eye out for during the film during the scenes of Odin’s Vault:
everything in that vault and everything you might see if you pause and look behind people’s shoulders or as the Einherjar soldiers are walking past – everyone of those has a story and it is from the books. There is Thanos’ glove, or certainly a glove that looks like it could be Thanos’ gauntlet, is in there for sure. The Warlock’s Eye thing [from the first Tales of Asgard stories] is in there. There are some swords. There is a sword there that may or may not be eternal. There are a number of things. There is even one, and in fact I’m not sure if you can see this in the movie or not, but there is one that is empty. There was one sort of subchamber of the vault that didn’t have anything in it. So the question is “What used to be in it?”
Feige also commented on the current status of the highly anticipated Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man. Feige said,” he has the best draft yet and I think we could be in shape to do it.” He has a meeting with Wright coming up so more news is very likely to follow.
Continuing on with the Marvel news, MTV recently caught up with Chris Evans and discussed his role in the upcoming Avengers film. Chris said that Cap will be getting a brand new costume that will better fit him for modern times and will be ditching the World War II costume in the film. He doesn’t go into details about what the suit will look like besides saying its “Really cool” and “Pretty rad”, but I’m sure we will see a spy photo soon since filming is underway.
Now onto a film that has been shooting for awhile now but not a lot has been discussed about it, Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man. For the most part the shooting has been pretty hush hush and we haven’t been learning a whole lot about the film besides The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) will be a villain in the film. Though we haven’t seen any pictures yet of The Lizard, we do have new photos from of the outside of Oscorp and pictures of Gwen Stacy ( Emma Stone) and Peter Parker ( Andrew Garfield) thanks to Superhero Hype and Splash News.
I don’t know what to think about the upcoming film, since when is Peter Parker a skater? I really need to see some actual footage before I will start judging the film, but I’m not really sure I like the look of the upcoming film from the stills I have seen. So far it seems to childish but again we need to see some actual footage. Hopefully Comic Con will be able to supply us with some!
