I don’t know if I could call Eli Roth a master of horror but the guy certainly loves the genre and finding new ways to exploit it, ideally in unique and interesting ways. I’ve been pretty eager to see his latest effort, The Green Inferno, because the plot sounds like a perfect set-up for brutal and chaotic mayhem.
“Directed, co-written, and produced by Roth, The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction. In an unfortunate twist of fate, when the group arrives, they are taken hostage by the very tribe they sought to protect.”
Yesterday, the first teaser for the film dropped and it’s certainly a tease. It doesn’t show anything gory but you can feel the terror in the air and can quickly get an idea how much trouble this group of students is going to be in once the shit really hits the fan.
If you’re a fan or horror, a fan or Roth, or are really into cannibals then this is certainly a movie you’re going to want on your radar. So far reviews have been mixed but we’ll offer up our thoughts once we see it too.
The Green Inferno stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, and Daryl Sabara and hits theaters on September 5th.
