After making a solid comeback with The Woman in Black, Hammer Films is looking to continue their strong return to new horror films with a remake of their 1957 feature, The Abominable Snowman.
In this take on the yeti story, Hammer will be taking a modern twist on their story which will follow “a scientific expedition’s illegal ascent up a peak of one of the World’s most formidable mountains accidentally awakens an ancient creature that could spell certain death for them all.” Matthew Read (Pusher, Hammer of the Gods) and Jon Croker (The Woman In Black: Angel of Death) co-wrote the script, there is no word yet on who will direct or star but I’m sure we will hear something more about this project in the coming months.
I’ve never seen the original Abominable Snowman but I do think it’s time we get another winter monster movie. I haven’t seen a real yeti film is so long that I’d welcome this with open arms. If they manage to put together a solid cast like they have for their most recent horror films, I think Hammer Films will have a solid production on their hands.
