As many know I am not a fan of the LOTR films or the books, I have been called all kinds of names because of this but to each there own. I appreciate them for what they are but I don’t agree with them being some of the greatest films ever made. During Comic Con this year I was sort of bored during the Hobbit panel in Hall H as was the case with a few of my fellow movie journalists that were there. That being said, the latest trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has just been released today and I must say the trailer is much better than I expected and I am now actually looking forward to the film.
The new trailer is beautiful and it is truly amazing how Peter Jackson is able to really make this film pop out at you and leave you in a state of awe. So before we get into the details of the trailer, here it is the new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
As you cans see, we have come a long way from the 2003 CGI technology to now and the prime example is the detail that we see with Gollum. For fans of the book, you can’t ask for much more from the trailer as it seems everyones hopes and desires will be fulfilled with the three films. Some might recognize some of the footage in the trailer from the 12 minute long clip that was shown during Comic-Con.
As we now know, the series is being broken into three films which to some was disheartening news but to others, makes sense. Not many people can sit through a potential four hour movie and you don’t want Jackson cutting the film down to 3 hours to suit movie goers. That being said, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters on December 14th, 2012. The sequel The Desolation of Smaug will follow the following year and hit theaters December 13th, 2013. The final installment, There and Back Again, will be released seven months later on July 18th, 2014.
